From August 9 to 13, the second “World Youth Energy Tour” kicked off in Beijing. Fifteen international youth representatives from ten countries visited the CHN Energy’s visited CHN Energy's headquarter, Zhunneng Group, and Longyuan Power Yumen wind farm. Embracing “innovation” and “sustainability”, they gained an understanding of China’s region-specific approach to developing new productive forces and advancing high-quality growth in the energy sector, reflecting Chinese path to modernization.

Empowered by “digital intelligence” and advancing towards a “greener” future, digitalization and intelligent technologies are becoming key drivers of growth in the energy industry. Before their journey began, the international youth delegation visited the Production Command and Dispatching Center of CHN Energy. They learned about CHN Energy’s closely coordinated operational model, which integrates production, transportation, sales, storage, and usage across six major business sectors: coal, power, chemicals, railways, ports, and shipping. They also participated in a video conference with youth representatives from the Zhunneng Group and China Longyuan’s Gansu Yumen Wind Farm, and engaged in discussions with CHN Energy’s spokesperson team, relevant departments, and the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies of the China International Communications Group (CICG). The international youth were impressed by the “great wisdom” demonstrated by the production operation coordination and dispatching system in areas such as integrated centralized control, intelligent and efficient coordination, and highly integrated visualization.

The international youth followed the “carbon footprint” trail deep into Zhunneng Group’s green mines, exploring the “value leap” from a “black economy” to a “green economy”. They were deeply impressed by the vivid scenes showcasing the origin of energy innovation and mining ecological civilization—from the automated operations of 300-ton driverless trucks in the pits to hundreds of species of wildlife “finding a home” in the mining area. They also had the chance to pick vegetables and fruits grown in the reclamation area, and the unique experience of walking through a garden above ground while coal seams lay beneath sparked lively discussions among the youth.

Deep in the Gobi Desert, rows of wind turbines are converting wind energy into “green electricity”, illuminating countless homes. The international youth visited the “cradle of wind power in Gansu” – China Longyuan Yumen Wind Farm, where they explored the “Four Little Swans” wind turbines and experienced the powerful momentum of new energy development across Gansu Province. They learned about China’s vigorous efforts to build a green electricity brand, leveraging wind and solar power to drive energy structure adjustments and green, low-carbon development—a unique Chinese ecological “secret”. The youth also participated in a world youth energy partners dialogue, discussing how to contribute their wisdom to the path of sustainable energy development.
